About the Jackstädt Center

The Jackstädt Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research was founded in 2011 at the University of Wuppertal and focuses on the diverse aspects of entrepreneurial change.

Our interdisciplinary work in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation includes theoretical as well as empirical research questions and spans across the fields of management, business, economics and psychology. In our research we investigate current phenomena, examine established concepts from new perspectives and develop innovative solutions.

Transferring knowledge between science, business and society is another one of our main goals, for example by developing strategies for product development and the internationalization of small- and medium-sized firms. We work with regional companies and associations as well as with other renowned research institutions in the USA, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The Jackstädt Center is led by an executive committee of professors at the University of Wuppertal.

  • Chairwoman Prof. Dr. Christine Volkmann, Head of the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development
  • Vice-Chairman Prof. Dr. Werner Bönte, Head of the Chair of Industrial Organization and Innovation
  • Prof. Dr. Michael J. Fallgatter, Head of the Chair of Human Resource Management and Organization
  • Prof. Dr. Peter Witt, Head of the Chair of Technology and Innovation Management

Doctoral candidates, research and student assistants complete the team.

The advisory board of the Jackstädt Center is made up of renowned scientists and business people as well as political decision-makers.

Financial support is provided by the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation, a notable charitable foundation rooted in the region.
